How does Phonym score my pronunciation?
Phonym aligns your recording to the target word sound by sound, then scores each phoneme against a native reference. Every sound is marked correct, close, wrong, or missing, so you can see exactly which part of a word needs work instead of a single pass-or-fail grade.
Does Phonym use shadowing?
Yes. Phonym is built around shadowing — the technique of listening to a native speaker and repeating out loud to copy their sounds and rhythm. The difference is that plain shadowing cannot tell you whether you actually matched the model; Phonym scores each sound against a native reference, so you see exactly which phonemes landed and which drifted, and the tricky ones come back on a spaced-repetition schedule.
Which English accents does Phonym support?
Phonym coaches two reference accents: British Received Pronunciation (RP) and General American (GA). You pick the accent you want to sound like, and every word is transcribed and scored against that accent.

What happens to my voice recordings?
